Certificate in Timebank Management

The certificate in timebank management is a 12-month program. Participants learn to manage a timebank in the context of their timebank’s mission and vision. They gain practical experience by working alone or 1-to-1 with an experienced, BACE staff. They rotate through six core functions of timebank operations:  administration, finance, technical, membership, research & data management, and communication. This program is designed for anyone who wants to manage an existing timebank. Furthermore, those who are exploring the idea of creating a timebank may find this course helpful.

Course pre-requisites (must-haves): 

  • Be a member of an operating timebank (i.e., a time-accounting system) during the course
  • Able to meet remotely by teleconferencing, phone, and email
  • Able to access and use Google shared document technology
  • Have completed at least 20 exchanges within BACE/your timebank in the past 12 months

Course grading:  Pass/No Pass

Estimated time commitment: 

  • Full course (6 subjects).  60 timebank hours over a 12-month period
  • Single-subject.  10 timebank hours over a 2-month period
