Therefore, every dollar you donate makes a big impact. Specifically, your donation helps pay for technical and marketing services which keeps our timebank operating and open to the general public. The first Wednesday of the month, members meet to share their skills. I’m surprised when members mention only skills that they’ve derived from paid work. A skill is skill, regardless of the way it was gained. I know someone who has a knack for finding lost pets—it’s not a work skill, just a talent he has. Come to skillshares with skills from paid work and talents you’ve developed over the years.
Get the right people to respond to your post by changing how you post. “Need help with phone” can attract various timebankers as it is a bit vague. But “Need advice on fixing phone” tells people your looking for advice and not someone to fix your phone.
At BACE, we kick-off NND (#NationalNonprofitDay) by thanking you, Timebank members, for your membership and participation in community building through making requests/offers. We express our gratitude to our all-volunteer staff who operate the Timebank so that people can meet their needs regardless of income. We encourage other nonprofit organizations to do more than just say “thank you” by becoming an organization member of the Timebank and showing gratitude for service (#GratitudeForService) by giving your volunteers hours of credit. Â

There are many forms of fundraising, and a direct request to BACE Timebank members is a means of last resort. In October, a Timebank Co-Director spoke at an event, and the honorarium was given to the Timebank. We will continue to use such paths for fundraising, but we must also look to ourselves, the users of the Timebank, to sustain, improve, and grow the Timebank.
Funds are currently needed to cover basic operational costs such as website hosting, email service, and technical updates to our time accounting system. We neither receive investment funds, nor do we sell any ads, but rely on volunteers and donations. Please consider giving what you can!
